Ray Harden passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 96.

Ray was born August 25, 1917, in De Kalb, Texas, to Carrol Warren and Margaret Elizabeth Peters Harden. He was a bus driver for De Kalb Independent School District and a member of First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas. Ray was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII. He was a member of the New Boston American Legion Post 488, De Kalb Masonic Lodge #9 and the Order of the Eastern Star, Avery Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Mae Harden, on May 21, 2005.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Jerry Davis of New Boston, Texas and Janet and Keith Wiggins of Duncanville, Texas; four grandchildren, Jerry Lynn Davis, Jr. and his wife, Denise of New Boston, Texas; Kyle Davis and his wife, Brandy of New Boston, Texas, Brad Wiggins of Dallas, Texas and Jill Davis of Arlington, Texas; and five great grandchildren, Trip Davis, Chloe Davis, Addison Davis, Logan Davis and Hudson Davis.

Services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas with Full Military Honors presented by New Boston VFW/American Legion Post 488 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
