DORA AUVENSHINE

November 7, 1928 – September 21, 2013

 

Dora Auvenshine, of DeKalb, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 84.

 

Dora was born November 7, 1928, in DeWitt, Arkansas, to Charles Lee and Hazel Elizabeth Young Vasseau. She was an Ammunitions Supervisor at Red River Army Depot and was a Baptist. Dora was the owner and operator of Mamaw's Kountry Kafe in De Kalb, Texas and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #252 in Avery, Texas.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Auvenshine in 2003; her brother, Charles Homer Vasseau in 2004; and a grandson, "Little Bill" Brown in 1970.

 

She is survived by 5 daughters and sons-in-law; Judy and Tony Tantlinger of De Kalb, Texas, Elizabeth and Mike Johnson of De Kalb, Texas, Martie and Harold Powell of De Kalb, Texas, Joyce and Bill Brown of De Kalb, Texas and Tammy and Roy Van Slyke of De Kalb, Texas; a sister, Cora Lee Bennett of McGhee, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Roy Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
