Ola "Polly" Romans of, Simms, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013, at a DeKalb, Texas nursing center. She was 93.


Polly was born September 4, 1920, in Bassett, Texas, to Felix Bryant and Rebecca Crabtree Burkhalter. She was a homemaker and a member of Godley Prairie Community Church in New Boston, Texas.


She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Romans; and a grandson, Brian Keith Romans in 2008.


She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gale and Jimmy Ramsey of DeKalb, Texas and Marilyn and David Martin of Simms, Texas; a son, James Romans of Jefferson, Texas; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Dick Coburn of Erie, Pennsylvania, Wanda Martin of DeKalb, Texas and Charlene "Pug" Birdwell of Nash, Texas; a brother, George Burkhalter of Texarkana, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.


Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Bates Family Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas.


Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Bates Family Funeral Home.
