The Rockin K Rose brings a new glitz to DeKalb

The Rockin K Rose Boutique and Florist, formerly DeKalb Flower Shop, has been offering a “unique blend of fashion and flowers” to the community for over a year now. Owner, Kynzi Powell has been able to mix her love of flowers and all things fashion to share with her hometown of DeKalb.

A lifelong resident of DeKalb, Powell gained her fondness of floral arrangements when she worked at the DeKalb Flower Shop right out of high school for several years. Years later, after working in the banking industry for ten years and being a stay at home mother to Kashtyn (6) and Kopelyn (2), Powell was given a proposition to purchase the shop, which she gladly accepted.

Taking ownership of the shop on May 1, 2015, Powell had her hands full with Mother’s Day orders which she describes as, “Crazy and awesome.” Once things calmed down from the holiday, it came time to remodel the building in which local roofing and construction company T.S.S.C. Enterprises stepped in to turned the place around. This renovation gave a new look and life to the building and allowed more room for the boutique side of the business.

In conjunction with being a full service florist, The Rockin K Rose now offers a range of women’s clothing items including plus sizes and little girl’s sizes 2 through 12, shoes, jewelry, LipSense, wine-a-rita, and more. Together with the help of her mother, Annette Holder, and the occasional assistance of the previous DeKalb Flower Shop owner, Nona Green, Powell keeps up with a wide assortment of floral orders from casket sprays, simple arrangements, Valentines Day, etc.

Powell professed gratitude for the members community, “I love being in my hometown. I’m so appreciative for all the support that everybody has given.”

Keeping up with the newest trends and customer requests, Powell is continually bringing in new products and plans on expanding the product selection as time goes on. Orders can also be placed via phone or online and shipped with payments accepted through Paypal.
