The Hottest Festival in Texas would not be complete without top of the line entertainment, and this year will be no different as one of the most talented families in Gospel music will kick off Pioneer Days in New Boston on Thursday, August 18 when Jeff and Sheri Easter take to the stage at the First Baptist Church.
Jeff and Sheri Easter have been making music together for 31 years now and they continue to be one of the most loved and influential Christian artists in the business, with a long list of awards and chart topping hits to their credit.
The pair also appeared for years with the Gaither Homecoming shows.
Their brand new album, Small Town, just went to the top of the charts, and they will play a handful of hits from that album, as well as old favorites when they make their way to New Boston.
Some of those old hits could include fan favorites such as “Praise His Name” and “Over and Over.”
Their latest release, Small Town, is described as a celebration of their 30 plus years of music and marriage, and features several songs that Sheri co-wrote with some of Nashville’s best songwriters.
The album is said to capture the warm, country-influenced musical style the group is known for and covers faith and family topics that have been important to Jeff and Sheri since they started the group three decades ago.
The Tribune spoke with Jeff and Sheri Monday morning, and they told us that the whole crew will be coming with them. Oldest daughter, Morgan, became the third vocalist in the group almost a decade ago at the age of just 14, and has already made a name for herself in Gospel music with solo albums of her own and a developing list of industry awards.
Youngest daughter Maura will also find her way on stage with the family, as well as backup artists Jared Easter who plays the guitar, mandolin and banjo, and Joshua Phillips, who keeps the beat on drums.
Jeff says. “We just want people to feel encouraged and entertained and to feel like it was worth their while to come out and hear us. We always love coming up there (New Boston) and we look forward to being there.”
With the release of Small Town and its success still rising, the Easters will spend the next couple of years touring and making music together for fans all across the country. Morgan will have the next new album out, as the family plans to continue making music and spreading the message of faith for many years to come.
Sheri stated, “We have been together for 31 years as a couple now, and I hope we make it another 31.”
So, look for the Easters and their special brand of Gospel music next Thursday, August 18, at New Boston’s First Baptist Church. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with the Hendrix Trio opening for one of the best acts in Christian music, Jeff and Sheri Easter.
