The De Kalb OKTOBERFEST Committee will accept request for funding from the 2017 festival, on the 8th of June, at 6:30 pm, at the Telford Building, on Runnels Street. Organizations serving De Kalb and the west-end of Bowie County are invited to present an oral request, accompanied by a written copy for our records.

Those applying for funding must hold 501 (c)(3) status as a non-profit organization or meet the qualifications, under the Federal Tax Code.

Funding cannot benefit an individual; it must benefit the community as a whole. Among the questions that might be asked: Will the use of this funding make a lasting impact in our community? Will it be used for a sustainable project or purchase? Projects using 50%, or more, of funding from OKTOBERFEST, must acknowledge the festival as a funding source, for example, “A project of The Williams House Museum and De Kalb OKTOBERFEST”.

Organizations must participate in the operation and promotion of the 2017 OKTOBERFEST. This includes pre-event planning, set-up, etc. and post event cleanup, evaluations, etc. Assignments will be made for those organizations that are not presently chairing an event.

An annual event in De Kalb since the early 1970’s,

OKTOBERFEST is hosted by the OKTOBERFEST Committee, an independent group of volunteers that donate their time and talents to the betterment of this community. Their mission is two-fold: to bring positive attention to thier community and to raise funds for organizations serving De Kalb and the west-end of Bowie County.

In 2016, ten organizations received funding totaling over $31,000 from the festival.
