Former DeKalb AD Eddy May will return to his roots in Simms to take over as Head Football Coach and AD following approval by the James Bowie ISD Board in their Monday night meeting.
May had recently been named as the Principal at DeKalb Middle School, leaving the football field behind, but said following the meeting Monday night, “I am extremely excited to be the new athletic director and head football coach at James Bowie. It is a great opportunity to return to my roots and build on a winning tradition. James Bowie has great kids and great community support and I look forward to getting started. I do want to thank the people of DeKalb for 4 great years. I worked with some wonderful people and the kids did a super job. I just have a special place in my heart for the blue and gold and I want to do my part in continuing the success that JB has built.”
James Bowie ISD Superintendent Rex Burks said after the meeting, “I think Coach May is a great coach, didn’t want him to leave when he did, and I am glad to have him back.”
