The district showdown in New Boston last night between the Lady Lions and the Lady Dragons of Redwater was a hard fought match, but the host Lady Lions prevailed in a three game sweep 25-16, 25-15 and 25-21 to earn the district championship and end district play with an 11-1 record and a season mark of 30-7.

The win launched the Lady Lions into the postseason as the #1 seed in their bracket, and they will take on the Paris Chisum Lady Mustangs in the opening round on Monday, at Mt. Pleasant High. Game time is set for approximately 7:30, following the Redwater versus Mt. Vernon game.

Redwater ends up as #2 and will move on to the Bi-district round and will face Mt. Vernon on Monday, October 29th at 6 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant High School.  The Lady Dragons will be the visiting team.

Last night, the Lady Lions played well as a team with stellar performances from key positions.

Carlee Ratcliff had 26 service points and 15 digs and was supported well by Grace Duffer with 15 assists and six kills.

Morgan McAlexander was a force to be reckoned with up front with 11 kills, partnered with Tamiya Smith who had four blocks and Carleigh Reeves who had had five kills and a pair of blocks assists.

Keeley Wilbur had nine service points to pace the Lady Dragons.

After the win, New Boston Head Coach Haylee Houston said, " I feel really strong going into the first round of playoffs. We are a young team and have grown in leaps and bounds throughout this season. I'm beyond proud of the girls, and their ability to pull together and fight. Redwater is a great team and most certainly helped us prepare for next week."
