Tribune reporter Allyson Pebsworth honored by DeKalb ISD and Texas Assoc. of School Boards

Allyson Pebsworth was honored September 19, 2016 by the district leaders for her outstanding support of the students at DeKalb Independent School.
“We are grateful for the generosity of Allyson Pebsworth and her commitment to help make a real difference for our kids and this community,” said Dr. John Booth, District Superintendent. This year Allyson went over and beyond reporting the news for our school and community.
“Our students, parents, and teachers directly benefit from individuals like Allyson who are willing to stand up for public schools, not just in words but in their actions. We applaud Allyson for her participation and hope that this will continue to be a strong relationship in the years to come,” stated Dr. John Booth.
Since joining the staff of the Bowie County Citizens Tribune, Pebsworth has focused her work on local businesses and the activities of the school districts in the area.

The Rockin K Rose brings a new glitz to DeKalb

By Allyson Pebsworth

Staff Reporter

The Rockin K Rose Boutique and Florist, formerly DeKalb Flower Shop, has been offering a “unique blend of fashion and flowers” to the community for over a year now. Owner, Kynzi Powell has been able to mix her love of flowers and all things fashion to share with her hometown of DeKalb.

A lifelong resident of DeKalb, Powell gained her fondness of floral arrangements when she worked at the DeKalb Flower Shop right out of high school for several years. Years later, after working in the banking industry for ten years and being a stay at home mother to Kashtyn (6) and Kopelyn (2), Powell was given a proposition to purchase the shop, which she gladly accepted.
