HARVEY RAY SIMS

Harvey Ray Sims, age 55, of Greenville, Texas, and formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died suddenly October 10, 2018, in Leonard, Texas.

Mr. Sims was born April 8, 1963, in Amarillo, Texas, to Rufus Harvey and Doris Dale Connelly Sims, Jr.  He was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and MDS Co-Ordinator for Leonard Manor Nursing Home in Leonard, Texas.  He married Aimee Elizabeth Thibeaux on December 25, 2014, at De Kalb, Texas.  He was a member of Caddo Mills United Methodist Church.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Rocky Sloan and George Sloan; one sister: Opal “Dee” Sanders.

DONNA MCMELLON

Donna Gay McMellon, age 54 of Simms, Texas passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at her residence.  Mrs. McMellon was born August 12, 1964 in Longview, Texas.  She was a Homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Johnson of Simms, Texas, one son, Blake McMellon of Hallsville, Texas, one daughter, Amy McMellon of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one granddaughter, Brianne McMellon and one grandson, Matthew McMellon both of Simms, Texas, one brother John David Smitherman of Lucas, Texas, her parents, David and Ruby Smitherson of Longview, Texas and a number of other relatives and friends. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Bates Rolf Chapel, New Boston.  Interment will be at a later date and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home, New Boston, Texas Visitation will be from 11:30 until 1:00 P.M. before services.

MARION MCGONIGAL

Marion Charlene McGonigal, age 75 of New Boston, Texas passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 in a local hospice facility.  Mrs. McGonigal was born January 17, 1943 in Redwater, Texas.  She was retired from Red River Army Depot, a member of the Gospel Tabernacle and is preceded in death by her husband William ‘Dub’ McGonigal.

Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Debra and Chris Dozier of Redwater, Texas, Pam and Ermon Talton of New Boston, Texas, one brother and sister in law, Alan and Joni May of Redwater, Texas, one grandson, Christopher McGonigal of Palestine, Texas, one granddaughter, Courtney Holland of Branson, Missouri, one sister, Sue Hillis of Texarkana, Texas, three brothers, James Bradford and Mike Bradford of Texarkana, Texas, Richard Bradford of Simms, Texas and a number of other relatives and friends. 

WINDELL CLARENCE BISHOP

ORANDO EUGENE MEWBORN

Eugene Mewborn, age 75 of New Boston, Texas passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 in a DeKalb Nursing Facility.  Mr. Mewborn was born May 6, 1943 in Fouke, Arkansas.  He was a retired Machinist, member of Victory Holiness Tabernacle and is preceded in death by his parents, Orando and Opal  Mewborn and grandparents, Robert and Annie Mewborn,  a daughter LeeAnn Stone and a brother, Danny Mewborn.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law, Brad and Lynn Mewborn of Texarkana, Texas, Scott Mewborn of Malta, Texas, one daughter and son in law, Shelly and Bobby Baker of New Boston, Texas, 7 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.           

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.  Local arrangements are under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home, New Boston.

ROBERT LOUIS BRANTLEY

Robert Louis Brantley, 88, of De Kalb, Texas died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital.  

Robert was born October 7, 1930 in De Kalb, Texas to John Augusta and Alma Prissilla Elliott Brantley.  He was a retired employee of General Motors Corp.  Robert was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas where he served as a deacon for 24 years, was a member of the Brotherhood Ministry and was a Trustee.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James Brantley, Jr. and Bennie E. Brantley.

PATRICIA LYNN POPE

Patricia Lynn Pope, 68, of De Kalb, Texas died Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Idabel, Oklahoma.  

Patricia was born September 21, 1950 in Paris, Texas to Joe Bryan and Alema Joyce Calvit Pope.  She was a Sever in the restaurant industry and was of the Baptist faith.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Karen Pope and Jeana Fard.

Patricia is survived by one son, Joseph Pope and his fiancé, Victoria Granbery of New Boston, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Stroman of De Kalb, Texas; one brother, Mark Pope of Texarkana, Texas; one grandchild, Hayden Pope; one niece, Paula Delgado and her husband, Leo; two nephews, Jeff Mitchell and Kris Hooper; and numerous other family members and friends.
