LYNDA R. SHULER

July 22, 1947 – October 7, 2013

 

Lynda R. Shuler, age 66, of New Boston, Texas, died Monday, October 7, 2013 at a New Boston bursing facility. Lynda was born July 22, 1947 in Avery, Texas. She was a LVN and a Baptist.

She is survived by her two sons, Wendell Durham of Linden, Texas and Jacky Durham of New Boston, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Nell Griffin of Texarkana, Texas and Debbie Caudle of Maud, Texas; one brother, Wendell Morton of Queen City, Texas; three grandchildren, Brady Upson, Tyler and Jacob Durham; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Service will be held under the direction of Comforter Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Ringwood Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Jim Rust officiating.

GLENDA ANN CULPEPPER

June 8, 1961 – October 3, 2013

 

Glenda Ann Culpepper, age 52 of DeKalb, Texas, died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at a Shreveport, Louisiana hospital. Glenda was born June 8, 1961 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. She was a bookkeeper and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Paul Culpepper and her father, Elbert Crow.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Culpepper, three sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lisa Culpepper, Jason and Alisha Culpepper and Adam and Teriessa Culpepper, eight grandchildren, her parents, Gwen and Mike Derrick and numerous family and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Wards Creek Cemetery with Steve Minter officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Comforter Funeral Home, New Boston, Texas.

Patricia Yvonne Williams, formerly of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013, at a North Carolina hospital. She was 65.

Patricia was born January 17, 1948, in Vivian, Louisiana, to Robert E. and Gladys Truman Stout. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Stout; and a sister, Bobbie Howell.

She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Andrea Lee Williams of New Boston, Texas, Paige Spooner of Hubert, North Carolina, Charlie and John Nicholson of Caddo Mills, Texas and Jennifer and Gary Hanna of New Boston, Texas; a son, Keven Williams of Hubert, North Carolina; a sister, Sue Kirkpatrick of Terrell, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Thomas “Leroy” Ryan, age 53, of DeKalb, Texas, died Monday, September 30, 2013 in DeKalb, Texas. Leroy was born April 16, 1960 in Galveston, Texas. He was a carpenter and a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Ryan of DeKalb, Texas, daughter, Sarah Marie Hanna, two grandchildren, J.J. Hanna and Aden Hanna, one brother, Jack C. Ryan II of Santa Fe, Texas, five sisters, Rita Berenz of Hartland, WI, Debra Jaime of La Marque, Texas, Bertha Bland of Santa Fe, Texas, Patricia Granbery of DeKalb, Texas, Kathy Teel of La Marque, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of Comforter Funeral Home, New Boston, Texas.

Loise Reed passed away Monday, September 30, 2013, at her home in Oak Grove, Texas. She was 90.

Loise was born November 7, 1922, in Anson, Texas, to Robert Henry and Gladys Petty Donaghey. She was a retired nurse, a member of the National Nurses Association and a member of First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buster Reed in 1988; four brothers and two sisters.

CECIL EDWARD DURHAM

June 17, 1935 – August 8, 2013

 

Cecil Edward Durham, 78, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

CE Durham was born in DeKalb, Texas, on June 17, 1935, to the late Cecil and Addie Faye Durham. He attended DeKalb High School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, Texas. After serving his country, he took residence in Shreveport for over 50 years and retired from AT&T in 1989.

Mr. Durham is survived by his daughters Tamara Durham-Dailey of Alexandria, VA, and Debora Durham Miller of Atlanta, GA; his sisters Shirley Mashburn, Melba Durham, Ruby Reece and Wanda Randolph and one brother Bobby Joe Foster; and his grandchildren Caleb and Connie Miller. He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie Durham.

BOBBIE AUTREY

Bobbie Mae Autrey, age 85 of Moncks Corner, South Carolina passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 in South Carolina.  Mrs. Autrey was born May 27, 1928 in Ducktown, Tennessee.  She was a bookkeeper, a past employee of Texarkana Oaklawn Bank, former member of Temple Baptist Church of New Boston and First Baptist Church of Nash.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin F. Autrey and a son, Rodney D. Autrey.  Mrs. Autrey loved her family and friends, enjoyed practicing her faith, reading, playing games – especially Texas 42, a good football game and a lively discussion.

Survivors include one son John S. Autrey of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, one grandson, Robert S. Autrey of North Charleston, South Carolina, one granddaughter, Jennifer S. Deman of Goose Creek, South Carolina, three great grandchildren, and a number of other family and friends.

Polly was born September 4, 1920, in Bassett, Texas, to Felix Bryant and Rebecca Crabtree Burkhalter. She was a homemaker and a member of Godley Prairie Community Church in New Boston, Texas.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Romans; and a grandson, Brian Keith Romans in 2008.

Dora Auvenshine, of DeKalb, Texas, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013, at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 84.

 

Dora was born November 7, 1928, in DeWitt, Arkansas, to Charles Lee and Hazel Elizabeth Young Vasseau. She was an Ammunitions Supervisor at Red River Army Depot and was a Baptist. Dora was the owner and operator of Mamaw's Kountry Kafe in De Kalb, Texas and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #252 in Avery, Texas.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Auvenshine in 2003; her brother, Charles Homer Vasseau in 2004; and a grandson, "Little Bill" Brown in 1970.

Evelyn Ruth Wills

Evelyn Ruth Wills passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013, at her home in De Kalb, Texas. She was 60.

Evelyn was born March 10, 1953, in New Boston, Texas, to Ernest Lee Williams, Sr. and Naiome Lewis Williams. She was a cook at De Kalb Truck Stop for 12 years. Evelyn loved to fish and cook and was a helpful friend to all. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in the Garland Community of De Kalb, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Williams, Sr.
