HARLAN “HARLEY JOE” OLSON

June 25, 1953 – September 17, 2013

 

Harlan “Harley Joe” Olson, age 60, of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home after a short battle with cancer. Harley was born June 25, 1953 in Hot Springs, South Dakota. He was a Lutheran and a retired electrician.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Olson.

He is survived by his mother, Lottie Olson of New Boston, Texas, sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Charles Weatherford of Hooks, Texas, brother, Steve Olson of New Boston, Texas, two nieces and three nephews, a special friend, Ronda Canady, and a number of family and friends.

Ray Harden

Ray Harden passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 96.

Ray was born August 25, 1917, in De Kalb, Texas, to Carrol Warren and Margaret Elizabeth Peters Harden. He was a bus driver for De Kalb Independent School District and a member of First Baptist Church in De Kalb, Texas. Ray was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII. He was a member of the New Boston American Legion Post 488, De Kalb Masonic Lodge #9 and the Order of the Eastern Star, Avery Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Mae Harden, on May 21, 2005.

Helen Heard Tuck, age 83, of New Boston, Texas, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at a Texarkana hospital. Helen was born December 4, 1926 in Omaha, Texas. She was a retired computer program designer at RRAD and a member of the New Boston Church of Christ. Helen was also active with Bowie County Republican Women and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe D. Heard, Jr., James L. Heard and Wendell C. Heard.

George Perry Pipes, age 75 of Foreman, Arkansas, formerly of Maud, Texas passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Pipes was born August 1, 1937 in Bowie County, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Maud, retired from Day & Zimmerman and a United States National Guard Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Ethellene Pipes of DeKalb, Texas, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Perry E. Pipes of Texarkana, Texas, Jesse and Valerie Pipes of Douglassville, Texas, one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Danny Abston of Bryans Mill, Texas, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Foye Pipes of Redwater, Texas, Ed and Linda Pipes of Floresville, Texas, several grandchildren, one great grandchild and a number of other relatives and friends.

Whitney Nicole Hanes, age 21, of Hooks, Texas, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Hooks, Texas. Whitney was born April 25, 1992 in Texarkana, Texas. She was a Christian and homemaker.

 

She is preceded in death by her two grandfathers, Robert Dale Hanes, Lonnie Ray McDaniel.

 

She is survived by her three children, Trenton Hanes, Ariel Wright and Ayden Wright; her parents, Stephen and Shirlena Hanes of Hooks, Texas; one brother, Christopher Sanders of Hooks, Texas; grandparents, Jane and Bill Kellerman of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Shirley McDaniel of Hooks, Texas; uncles and aunts, Scott Hanes and Christine Evans, Shannon and Darrel Smiley, Stacy Franklin, Shelia English, Bobby Bachus, Ted Mitchell, Stacie Baker, Doug McDaniel; and numerous family and friends.

Billie Bob White 86 of Maud, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Daingerfield, Texas. Mrs. White was born April 28, 1927 in DeKalb, Texas.  She was retired from Red River Army Depot and a member of Maud United Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include her husband, Toby White of Maud, Texas, two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Robert Eitel of Redwater, Texas and Jane and Charles Newberry of Forney, Texas, two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Linda White of Daingerfield, Texas and Joey and Cindy White of  Maud, Texas, one sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bill Hood of Sugarland, Texas, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a number of other relatives and friends.

Carsen and Corben Widemon, twin sons of Kyle and Chelsea Widemon, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. 

They were preceded in death by their maternal grandfather, Johnny Barnes.

They are survived by their parents, Kyle and Chelsea Widemon of DeKalb, Texas; Paternal Grandparents, Randy and Bridgette Widemon of Lydia, Texas; Maternal Grandmother, Tonya Mayes of Miami, Oklahoma; one sister, Cynliee Barnes or DeKalb, Texas; one brother, Conner Widemon of DeKalb, Texas; three aunts and an uncle, Joshua and Christina Widemon of DeKalb, Texas, Chelsea Widemon and Lindsey Widemon, both of Lydia, Texas; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August, 29, 2013 at Lydia Cemetery in Lydia , Texas with Rev. Steve Minter officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home, DeKalb , Texas .

Clora Elizabeth Stout Hackle of the Beaver Dam Community, near DeKalb, Texas, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at her residence. She was 80.

 

Clora was born April 8, 1933, in Avery, Texas, to Kermit Lester and Irby Odessa Walker Stout. She was a Barber, a member of the Spring Hill Baptist Church and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  She was a member of the New Boston American Legion Post #488.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Hackle, Jr., her parents and a son, Charles Kibler.

Edith Joan Jones, age 75 of DeKalb, Texas, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 in a local hospital.  Mrs. Jones was born January 24, 1938 in La Cygre, Kansas.  She was a homemaker and is preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Jones.

 

 Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rickey and Barbara Jones, Dave and Patricia Jones and Rex Jones; one sister, Marjorie Bogdam, four grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 29, 2013 at the Bates Rolf Chapel, DeKalb, Texas with Bro. Steve McMichael officiating. Interment will be in Woodmen Cemetery under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home, DeKalb, Texas.
