THOMAS EUGENE ASHMORE

 

Thomas Eugene Ashmore, age 69 of Hooks, Texas passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 in a Little Rock Arkansas hospital.  Mr. Ashmore was born December 14, 1943 in Clarendon, Arkansas.  He was a retired Service Tech with Howtex, a member of the Bowie County Cowboy Church and is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Dan Ashmore. 

 

Survivors include one son, Michael Ashmore of Hooks, Texas, one daughter, Michelle Carlock of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, three sisters, Elizabeth Richardson of Vidalia, Louisiana, Wanda Chaudoin of Jonesville, Louisiana, Lee Blaney of Ferriday, Louisiana, two brothers, Robert Lee Ashmore, Jr. of Atlanta, Texas, Roger Ashmore of Mesa, Arizona and a number of other relatives and friends.

Rosia Marie Garmon

Rosia Marie Garmon of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at a local nursing center. She was 82.

 

Rosia was born September 18, 1930, in Hooks, Texas, to Theo and Essie Mae Daniel Jones. She was a Nurse and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Garmon in 2005; a son, Lewis Davis in 2010; a grandson, Montra Jones; and three brothers, Johnny, Floyd, Sr. and Daniel Jones.

 

She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Charlesetta and Bobby Rowden of New Boston, Texas; Tonyia Davis Sheilds of New Boston, Texas and Donna Garmon of De Kalb, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Dedria Davis of Lancaster, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Betty Jones of Crandall, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

James Lewis Griffin, age 72, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, August 22, 2013 in Nash, Texas. James was born November 18, 1940 in Nodaway County, Missouri. He was a Baptist and a retired truck driver.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Lee Skinner and his wife, Mary Jane Keck.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Griffin; one step-daughter, Abbigale Garmon; two step-sons, Jeremy Dougan and Joshua Wyche; one sister, Jane Hall; two brothers, Roy Griffin and Robert Griffin.

Earl Walker Talent, age 84, of New Boston, Texas, died Monday, August 19, 2013 at a local nursing home. Earl was born December 30, 1928 in Grand Saline, Texas. He was a Baptist and in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his four brothers, John Talent, Odie Talent, Eugene Talent, Boyce Talent; two sisters, Mae Harrell and Adell Palmore.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Talent; three brothers, Bobby Talent, Joe Talent, Redis Talent; four sisters, Mary Tegel, Joy Shockley, Bonnie Gunn and Ruby Collins.

Service will be held Friday, August 23, 2103 at 2 p.m. at Comforter Funeral Home, New Boston, Texas with A.M. Adams officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Comforter Funeral Home, New Boston, Texas under the direction of Comforter Funeral Home.

Paul Gene Grable, age 67 of Redwater, Texas passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at his residence.  Mr. Grable was born March 11, 1946 in Pittsfield, Illinois.  He was retired from General Telephone Company, a member of the Assembly of God Church, a Free Mason, Harmony Lodge #3, Jacksonville, Illinois, Four States Amateur Radio Club member, volunteered with the Redwater Athletic Booster Club over 15 years, served on the Redwater City Council, was a Redwater Volunteer Fireman and is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Mamie Grable of New Salem, Illinois and his mother-in-law, Vera Green of Pittsfield, Illinois. .

Jessie Elbert Roach passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at his home in Bassett, Texas. He was 69.

Elbert was born August 3, 1944, in Bassett, Texas, to Wesley and Mittie Tinsley Roach. On October 7, 1967, he married Bernice Ratliff in Idabel, Oklahoma. He worked for Simms ISD, where he was a bus driver for 26 years. Elbert was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Aubrey and Olive Oleane Roach and Lowell Roach; and one sister,
Martha Bolz.

Dan C. Hutchinson, Jr., passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Girling House,

a hospice facility in Round Rock, Texas.

Dan was born August 31, 1938 in Clarksville, Texas to Dan C. Hutchinson, Sr. and Mary Jim Francis Hutchinson. On September 11, 1962 he was married to Sally Carol Gilbert Hutchinson in DeKalb, Texas.

Dan served in law enforcement for 29 years with Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission; he retired in 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Holly Carol Hutchinson and a son, Dan Lee Hutchinson.

JAMES “JIM” W. LANIER JR.

James “Jim” W. Lanier Jr. passed away on August 13, 2013 in Alvin, Texas. He was born in New Boston, Texas on August 30, 1933 to parents, Wever and Mocille Day Lanier.  

Jim is survived by loving wife, Frances Curry Lanier; daughter, Crickett Lanier Landriault and husband Jim; grandchildren, Brett and Mac Landriault; brothers, Dr. J. D. Lanier and wife Margaret, David and Dan Eubank and close friend, Don “Cotton” Gottlob.  

The family will receive guests from 10-11 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013. Memorial Services will follow at 11 a.m. at Carnes Funeral Home – Texas City, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas.  

In lieu in flowers, please provide memorial donations in Jim’s name to the Ronald McDonald House of Galveston, 301 14th Street Galveston, Texas 77550.

Derenda Faye Norwood, age 66, of Nash, Texas, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at her home. Derenda was born November 30, 1946 in Malta, Texas. She was a retired RN after working many years at Wadley hospital, also working in home health and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her son, Westy Norwood and one brother, Robert Hubbs.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Brett Swanger of Nash, Texas, Lorrie and Kevin Smith of Queen City, Texas, Mike Norwood of Texarkana, Texas; four grandchildren, Laiken and Pierson Swanger, Halli Norwood and Chloe Norwood; two brothers, William Hubbs of Queen City, Texas, Jimmy Hubbs of New Boston, Texas; two sisters, Lillie Imojean Hanna of New Boston, Texas, Thelma Allene Hubbs of New Boston, Texas.
