DELORES CLIFTON OWEN

Delores Clifton Owen, age 85 of Texarkana, Texas passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 in a local Nursing Facility.  Mrs. Owen was born February 27, 1933 in Rusk County, Texas.  She was a retired Hairdresser and Homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church, New Boston and the Friendship Sunday School Class. 
Survivors include her husband, James M. Owen of Texarkana Texas, one Sister, Letha Clifton Davis of Rusk, Texas, two step sons, Max Owen of Texas and Clyde Owen of Arkansas, 2 grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
 Funeral  Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the  Bates Rolf Chapel, New Boston with Dr. Patrick Hunter officiating.  Interment will be in New Boston Cemetery, New Boston under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home, New Boston.  There is no set visitation.
Donations may be made to  the First Baptist Church, New Boston or charity of your choice.

GERALD LYNN HORNBUCKLE

Gerald Lynn Hornbuckle, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at  at Texarkana, Texas hospital. He was 70.
Gerald was born May 29, 1948, in Naples, Texas, to Charles M. and Bonnie Thrapp Hornbuckle. He was a Truck Driver for over 45 years and was a member of the Church of Christ. Gerald was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl Hornbuckle, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hornbuckle of De Kalb, Texas; three sons Scott Hornbuckle, Dave Hornbuckle and Greg Hornbuckle; a daughter, Kellie Phillips; a step daughter, Becky Montoya; two step sons, Christopher Montoya and Tony Montoya; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Judy and Ron Prince and Cindy Hornbuckle; 14 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

MURIEL EUBANKS WATSON

Muriel Eubanks Watson, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at a De Kalb, Texas care facility. She was 98.
Muriel was born July 9, 1919, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Thomas Ira and Maude Green Hollis.  She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, John Lemuel Eubanks and Otis Watson and one daughter, Lois Johnette Eubanks.

DR. ALEX J. KELLER

Dr. Alex J. Keller passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018, at his home in De Kalb, Texas. He was 89. 
Dr. Keller was born August 2, 1928, in Camden, New Jersey to Samuel Alexander and Mary Hustack Keller. He was a self employed physician in De Kalb, Texas for over 50 years and was a member of St. Mary of the Cenacle Catholic Church in New Boston, Texas. 
Dr. Keller was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Christine Harrington Keller in 2013; two brothers and a sister.

ROY EDWIN WHITTLE

Roy Edwin Whittle age 60 of New Boston, Texas passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 in a local hospice facility.  Mr. Whittle was born October 28, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  He was retired from Red River Army Depot, Baptist and is preceded in death by his parents, Edith and J.W. Whittle and a sister, Edna Brandon.  

Survivors include  2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, one brother and sister in law, Hoyt and Cindy Whittle of New Boston,  three nieces and  nephews in law, Kelly and Brad Butler of New Boston, Texas, Kristy and Chris Cameron of Gilmer, Texas,  Andreia Brandon of Atlanta, Georgia, two nephews and one niece in law, James Brandon of Atlanta Georgia,   Thomas and Rene Brandon of Newnan, Georgia,  6 great nieces,  two great nephews, one great great niece,  a lifelong friend Tab Jones and a number of other relatives and friends.

SAM ANDERSON

Sam Anderson, age 72 of New Boston, Texas passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in a local hospital.  Mr. Anderson was born April 24, 1946 in Decatur, Illinois. He was a truck driver for Tad Martin Farms, and a member of First Baptist Church, New Boston, Texas.  

Survivors include  his wife, Sue Anderson of New Boston, Texas, three sons and two daughters in law, Mark and Linda Brooks of Henderson, Texas, Kirk and Shannon Brooks, Joel Brooks of New Boston, Texas, two daughters Kayla Ridgeway of New Boston, Texas, Samantha Anderson of Arlington, Virginia, sixteen grandchildren,12 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

HOWARD BRYANT “HAP” HOWELL

Howard Bryant “Hap” Howell, age 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 16, 2018 in Olympia, WA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Connie; and his daughter, Leslie. He was preceded in death by his infant son, William Lester; his sisters, Clady Milton and Naomi Maxwell; his mother, F. Adelia Daniels; and his father, William Lewis.
Hap was a loving, protective husband and father.  A dedicated patriot, he served in the Navy (1948-1952) and in the aerospace industry until 1995.  He retired to spend time with family and friends, improve their Saratoga, CA home, and enjoy his yellow lab and koi fishpond. He moved to their lake home in Olympia in 2013.  He enjoyed watching the ducks and wildlife on the lake.
Services will be held at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Francisco, CA.  A celebration of life will be held near New Boston, TX. Dates are pending.

CLARA MAE LANGFORD

Clara Langford, age 83 of Annona, Texas passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at a Dekalb nursing facility.  Mrs. Langford was born August 5, 1934.  
She was a homemaker and a member of Avery Church of Christ. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Langford, one daughter, Marlene Taylor and two sons, Jeff Langford and Michael Langford.

Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Paul and Mendy Langford of Avery, Texas, one daughter and son in law, Mickie and John Richard Williams of Avery, Texas, one sister, Anna McDonald of Farwell, Texas, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

JOHN SURRATT

John Surratt, age 94 of New Boston, TX passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, TX. John was born December 22, 1923 in New Boston.
John was a Veteran of World War II, where he was a Sharp-Shooter, Truck Driver and Boxer. He was an Assembly of God Pastor for 50 years. John enjoyed fishing. He was a very personable man and loved other people. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Mamie Surratt; parents, John Franklin Surratt & Minnie Lee Surratt; great-grandson, Steave Surratt, Son in law, Lloyd Johnson, 12 brothers and sisters; several nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his daughter, Carol Brown and husband Mark of Alabama; son, Johnny Surratt and wife Karen of New Boston, TX; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

JAMES CLAYTON MCCORD

James Clayton McCord, age 64 of New Boston, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 15,
2018 at his residence. Mr. McCord was born April 6, 1954 in Victory Arkansas. He was an Industrial Mechanic with Red River Army Depot and is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lynn and two grandchildren, Samantha Phillips and Lanney Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon McCord of New Boston, Texas, one son, James McCord of Tyler, Texas, four daughters, Anita Phillips, Tonya Purcell, Tanya Davis all of New Boston, Texas, Jessica McCord of DeKalb, Texas, two brothers, Roy McCord of Alabama, Clyde McCord of Tennessee, five sisters, Connie Peek of Ore City, Texas, Cheryl Harwell of Alabama, Karen Sue Woodall of Puerto Rico, Mexico, Mary Jo
McCord and Margie McCord of Tennessee, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
